The Cal Poly Center for Engineering, Science & Mathematics Education and The Western Regional Noyce Initiative are pleased to offer 2-week professional development courses: chemistry, physics and biology.

These workshops are structured inquiry approaches to high school teaching that incorporate computer technology and insights from the Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standard & current education research.

Workshops open to secondary educators who are interested in Modeling.

Workshop Meetings  2025

Weeks A & B may be taken separately or together, but must be taken in order, though not necessarily all in the same summer. Week B will be offered next summer (2026).

Week A: June 23-28 from 8:30 am-4:30pm PDT - Chemistry 1A or Physics 1A or Biology 1A

Week B: June 30-July 3 from 8:30 am-4:30pm PDT -Chemistry 1B or Physics 1B or Biology 1B


Location: Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo 

Modeling materials, parking, and lunch provided daily. 

FREE for selected Western Noyce Scholars plus a travel stipend and participant stipend of $125/week. FREE on-campus housing (your own bedroom, shared kitchen/bathroom/living room and pool access)

Approved by Cal Poly Extended Education for purchase of 1, 3, or 6 CEUs.
