The Cal Poly Center for Engineering, Science & Mathematics Education and The Western Regional Noyce Initiative are pleased to offer 1-week or 2-week professional development workshops in Modeling Instruction: biology, chemistry, and physics.​

These workshops are structured inquiry approaches to high school teaching that incorporate computer technology and insights from the Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards & current education research. ​

Workshop Meetings  2025

Week A: June 23-28 – Biology 1A, Chemistry 1A or Physics 1A

Week B: June 30-July 3 – Biology 1B, Chemistry 1B or Physics 1B

Participants are encouraged to register for Weeks A & B in the same summer. However, it is possible to take them separately by registering for Week A in summer 2025 and Week B in summer 2026.

Location: Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo 

Modeling materials, parking, and lunch provided daily. 

FREE for selected Western Noyce Scholars plus a travel stipend and participant stipend of $125/week. FREE on-campus housing (your own bedroom, shared kitchen/bathroom/living room and pool access)

Approved by Cal Poly Extended Education for purchase of 1, 3, or 6 CEUs.
